Jozef Bátora
Jozef Bátora is associate professor and director at the Institute of European Studies and International Relations, Comenius University in Bratislava. He holds a PhD in political science from the University of Oslo (2006), MPhil in public administration from the University of Bergen (1999) and Bc. in political science from Comenius University (1997). Previously he was research fellow at the Institute for European Integration Research at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna (2006 – 2009), senior researcher at ARENA – Centre of European Studies at the University of Oslo (2006), and visiting scholar at Scancor, Stanford University (2003 – 2004). His research interests include the changing dynamics in diplomacy in the context of European integration, EU foreign policy, developments in the transatlantic security architecture and the role of institutions in political life. His monograph Foreign Ministries and the Information Revolution: Going Virtual? was published by Brill / Martinus Nijhoff (2008). He is co-editor and author of Culture and External Relations: Europe and Beyond (Ashgate 2011). His scholarly articles were published inter alia in Journal of European Public Policy, The Hague Journal of Diplomacy, Cambridge Review of International Affairs, Journal of International Relations and Development and West European Politics.  He is member of the Steering Committee of the ECPR Standing Group on International Relations and is on the editorial board of Mezinárodní vztahy and The Hague Journal of Diplomacy. Since 2009, he has also been a lecturer in the Train4Diplo programme of the European Commission, which trains officials for work in the European External Action Service.
