Milan Nič is a special advisor to State Secretary Milan Ježovica at the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He holds a M.A. in international relations from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic (2001), a M.A. in modern history from the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary (1995), and a diploma in European Studies from the SAIS Bologna Center of the Johns Hopkins University in Bologna, Italy (2007). Milan’s professional interests include the EU Enlargement, civil society and democratization in the Western Balkans, and human rights issues in Cuba. On the outset of his career, Milan worked in the media, as a foreign news editor at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (1995-2002). After he moved back to Bratislava, he established and led the civic diplomacy and development co-operation programme of the Pontis Foundation (2002-2006). Later, he worked as an
advisor to Miroslav Lajčák, High Representative and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (2007-2009). Upon landing his current post, Milan worked as a part-time analyst for the European Stability Initiatives think tank. Milan co-authored several articles on development assistance and democratization in foreign policy agenda. He is also a recipient of the 2004 Karol Rybárik Award for the best young professional in Slovak foreign policy.
